IBOs know a good cause when they see one – like the U.S. Dream Academy, whose goal is to “break the cycle of incarceration” for families of imprisoned parents.
Each year, the IBOAI sponsors a table at the Annual Power of a Dream Gala fundraising event. This year’s affair, held May 21 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., was the seventh. Attending the Gala were six members of the IBOAI Board and three members of the IBOAI Marketing Advisory Committee, plus 20 other IBOs. Jody and Kathy Victor, Bill and Sandy Hawkins, Bob and Terry Andrews, and John and Jenniebelle Crowe joined celebrities, national leaders, and community advocates to promote the mentoring of skill building, character building, and dream building. In addition to supporting the cause by sponsoring a table, IBOAI Governance & Oversight Committee member Jody Victor is on the U.S. Dream Academy Board.
The goal of the Gala is to raise a million dollars. As Wintley Phipps, Academy president and CEO explains, “U.S. Dream Academy was born in miracles and will sustain in miracles. Every time I think we’re going to run out of money a miracle happens.” This year, Oprah Winfrey “happened”, giving $903,000 plus a challenge grant for $500,000, Quixtar gave $30,000 in computers plus a $25,000 donation, and IBOs gave more than $61,000.
Every year, IBOs donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to good causes. Not every IBO can attend a Gala, yet every IBO can take part in a miracle. All it takes is donating through the U.S. Dream Academy website. You know a good cause when you see one!
Watch for more details on the Gala including photos on the main IBOAI website.
I'm proud and thankful to be in a business that focuses on these type of events. The fact that Quixtar and the IBOAI board create awareness for the U.S. Dream Academy, Easter Seals, One-by-One by their participation is great. But also providing and organizing an outlet for all IBOs to participate in various charities that can be trusted to properly donate the funds.

Wow it is so awesome to have IBOs and Corporate representatives at such a huge event! Not only is it great that we are supporting such a worthy cause but we are in the company of people like Oprah Winfrey who was the surprise guest that donated almost $1 million to the US dream academy.
In this page about the Gala, Jim Payne is recognized as a major part of the event with celebrities like, Chris Tucker. Check this out: Gala Invite

My involvement with Amway Global/Quixtar has taught me what it is to be a person who gives from the heart. I've learned to give to worthy causes and have upline in my life who are incredible examples of this also!

"A child with a dream is a child with a future" -Wintley Phipps
Isn't it great that there are organizations out there like The US Dream Academy that help our children understand the importance of devoloping and fostering their dreams. I truly believe that all great things start with a dream. I also think our society has really undervalued the power of someone's dreams in recent years.
We need to get back to understanding the importance of developing our dreams and acting on them. I've been around long enough to know that the IBOs affiliated with Amway Global/Quixtar and the founding families of Amway Global/Quixtar have been extremely successful in creating an environment where it is safe to dream again. The best part about it is that they not only provide an environment in which individuals can build and develop their dreams, but also provide a vehicle that allows these individuals to actually achieve some of their wildest dreams.
Because of this, I couldn't think of a better partnership than that of the IBOAI and the US Dream Academy. Kudos to all who helped organize and participated in this gala event!

Impact Player,
Thanks for the post; great comments! Here's another great quote.
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined."
Henry David Thoreau
I've definitely learned to dream and give more through the association of awesome people through Amway Global!

I am constantly amazed at the Generiosity of Amway and the IBO's who support Great Causes. This has been happening for many years, yet only recently has it become more know. I appreciate the awareness as it generates pride in the Company and the principles it stands for in partnership with the IBO's.
