Thanks for this. In one of your future Best Practices posts, could you address the issue of using "tax advantages" or "tax avoidance" as a reason used in prospecting new IBOs for joining or starting with our business model?
With appreciation,

[rdknyvr: I believe that's one of the topics we'll be covering -- thanks for the suggestion. Moderator 2.]

I agree. The LOS has always been one of the cornerstones of this business, and as such must be protected and preserved.

We all need to strive to develop strong relationships and apply Best Practices in running our businesses.

It's a matter of integrity.

I think that Amway Global is smart to have rules protecting the LOS. The most common offense I've seen is a newer IBO finding a "sure thing, get-rich-quick deal" and trys to recruit his new found business partners. This only creates confusion and 99% of the time is a short-term "hit" vs. anything long-term.

Look forward to the rest of the Best Practices. Along with some thoughts from the IBOAI board on each one.

Will this include triple diamond Brad Duncan who is apparently selling (and part owner in) a competitive energy drink "Allin Energy"? Will you please respond? It is difficult when this is brought to attention by non IBOs.

[Brad Duncan isn’t involved with All In Energy Drinks. You may mean his brother, Greg, an IBO who is also associated with the beverage manufacturing company that developed XS Energy Drinks and marketed them to Quixtar for sale exclusively by IBOs. Like any other vendor, Greg’s company is free to develop and market its own products, like All In Energy Drinks, which is associated with a very different market.
Manufacturing other products, keeping the facility busy, also keeps product costs down, which benefits us all. As such, Greg hasn’t broken any of Quixtar’s rules.

The cornerstone of this business is relationships, and protecting the LOS protects those relationships.

I think Amway Global is on the right track with this to preserve our business.

This is so important in any business organization in and outside this business. The line of sponsorship in the Amway business is what makes this business so special and unique. We are all private franchises, but all work for the common good of everyone in the line of sponsorship. Thank rules and regulations for implementing the LOS ruling, so many new people coming into the business, should recognize the importance of this matter and protect it.

Speaking of best practices, is there more than 5% of products going to an end user consumer (NOT an ABO), or is that still just the way it goes?
[Sorry, it's simply not possible for us to accurately determine those percentages. No one can accurately determine that information, there are too many variables in how purchases are made. From the Board]

Are prices in North America going to drop now that Amway has demonstrated they are capable of it?
[Amway Global has demonstrated an ability to introduce new products at very competitive prices and we think they will continue to remain competitive in the marketplace. From the Board]

Will this comment be posted? I'll wait and see.

You Amway guys still have waaaay more questions than answers in regards to your "business"

visioneer

rocket,

It's obvious you haven't kept up with the changes within the corporation.

Simply Nutrilite and Artistry Essentials was launched late last year and have been very competitive at retail pricing to similar products.

More changes are coming, thanks Amway Global!

this is awesome, and i am so glad because it sets us apart. I've always been taught never to speak down on any other businesses because that's someone's livelihood and someone else's dream!

On the flip side, I've been approached by a neighbor (won't name names and tarnish reputations) who is building a business (won't promote gossip by naming the business) other than Amway Global who was taught to specifically sponsor people away from other network marketing businesses, rather than meeting people at their needs, and build his own business rather than steal from other LOS's.

I'm very proud to represent a business that not only has ethics, but teaches them, embodies them, and enforces them.

visioneer,

rocket was an Amway Distributor in Canada back in 1997.

So it's understandable that he might not be up on all that has happened--in the last eleven years.

:)

Bridgett

john,

Just an FYI, I believe Brad and Julie Duncan are now Crowns.

:)

ibofightback

Rocket, as you well know from various other discussions, IBOs are just as legitimate as consumers as anyone else. Shaklee in a submission to the FTC pointed out nearly 90% of people who join that opportunity do so for the benefits of beign a distributor, including better pricing, with little or no intention of trying to earn an income. I've no idea what the percentage is for Quixtar, but I'm sure it's substantial.

TWS

It seems like the critics are very "out of touch" when it comes to this business model. Especially considering how much time as some of them spend bad-mouthing this industry and specific opportunity, one would think they'd be more up-to-date.

By simply evaluating what Amway Global and its IBOs have done over the past 12 months of this transformation, one can easily conclude that this business is changing for the better. But I guess it may not be easy if you're always looking in the past.

bridgett,

yes, if he was in canada, then the rules and products are often different. i remember trading xs's with canadians at a major function becuase they were finaly given the product but it had to be non-carbonated!

i heard b.duncan has gone crown too but dont know for sure.

rocket,

come on m8. my 2 y/o asks more questions with better meaning behind them with more sincerity then most any skeptic out there. just because that question is always the same "why... why... why..." at least they are actually TRYING to understand as to not go throug life asking the same questions over and over as an adult because they never looked and figured it out for themselves. and then in finding the answer, but not the one they wanted decided to pester every blog out there just to try and fit in! and just to get it straight, im not an "amway guy" im a freedom guy, im a dream giver, not taker, im a spouse who has spouse who looks at me with admiration and a parent that SHOWS my kids how to give others a hand up by serving them and helping them to grow, and not a hand out.

and keep in mind, the only questions that, as you put it, amway guys, get are the same, monotonous questions. when are the skeptics going to realize like the 2 y/o does that "no" is and answer? as are the credible, direct explainations that are given for the repetitive "questions"

ibofightback,

funny, how everytime i have ever had anyone ask me about how much money i made...as if they were trying to stump me, and i show them physical checks over a six month period (july-december) totaling over 40K, they still dont get involved. but thier eyes pop out, because they thought "they never met anyone who made money at that thing" and i just stomped thier negative.

those folks always want "numbers" "stats" etc. but it doesnt really make a difference when you give it to them because anything said or done is going to be a reason or an excuse. and they usually choose the later.

TWS,

everybody always has at least 2 oppinions of something. and just like the pit of an arm, they usually stink to someone. just as some of those critics have never been in the business at all, or were but quit.

ask yourself, when have i ever met anyone who quit something wether it be a sport or a job and always say something positive about it? pretty rare! ever have a friend who was fired from thier job? what did they say? well, even though you cant really get fired from this business, would they have been fired for the effort they put in if they could have? if so, what would thier oppinion be? guess most of them are just "self-terminated" or "let-go" or "down-sized" or how about just plain ol' "fired" i love seeing the handles of bloggers...ex-ruby, ex-diamond, ex..., like it was some badge of endless knowledge for the entire industry. :/ please, pull my left leg, it plays jingle bells.

there has been tremendous growth over time and it only gets better every year. (cant wait for october...an extra 10k over last year in that month alone!)

s.t.p., e.t.c., g.h!
